What you'll learn:
Kathryn Wilson launched her cult footwear brand at just 22, straight out of university. Now, with customers including Beyoncé and friends like Jimmy Choo, she’s built a global business while raising two kids. Her approach to big goals is to share them loudly, surround yourself with people who challenge you, and it’s ok pivot when things feel way too hard.
💡 Share your goals loudly and often – Kathryn’s manifesting technique is simple: tell everyone what you want. She talked about a house so much that she got photographed outside it for a magazine – a year later, the owner rang after seeing the image while in a waiting room. The same goes for entering a new location – she mentioned wanting it on a trip, and the opportunity arose weeks later. If this sounds woo-woo, it’s not – it’s networking with a clear ask. People can’t help if they don’t know what you’re after.
💡 Get advisors who challenge you – At one stage, Kathryn realised she had opportunities everywhere, but no one was helping her pick the right ones. She built an advisory board with complementary skills – a CFO, a financial strategist – who’ve worked with her for over a decade. They fill her skill gaps and push back on ideas. If you’re always the smartest person in the room on every topic, you’re in the wrong room.
💡 When it feels too hard, change direction – Kathryn’s approach is to stay clear on what success means to you, then ask what you can actually control and change. If something feels clunky or like you’re pushing a boulder uphill, it’s probably the wrong path! One small shift – a new location, a different approach – can open up all sorts of new opportunities.
