What you'll learn:
Rhiannon McKinnon led Kiwi Wealth through a $310 million exit and knows what it means to make a call under pressure. And her take? Most of us aren’t bad at decisions – we’re just waiting too long to make them.
💡 Indecision has a cost too: We fixate on the risk of getting it wrong and forget that not deciding is also a choice – usually a worse one. A bad decision beats no decision, because at least you learn something.
💡 Your values are a shortcut: Clear on what you stand for? You don’t have to start from scratch every time a hard call lands in your lap. Values aren’t a nice-to-have; they’re a compass. Rhiannon described a decision she had to make about team culture and pushed through (even though it was hard), guided by the value of courage.
💡 80/20 and two-way doors: Perfect information isn’t coming. Ask yourself: What am I still missing that would actually change my decision? If nothing? You’ve likely got enough. And most decisions aren’t the massive, irreversible ones they feel like – Jeff Bezos calls them two-way doors. You can walk back through if you need to. To get there, break it down, test something small, and go.
💡 Back yourself, then adapt: The goal isn’t to be right every time. It’s to be able to explain your reasoning – what you knew, what you weighed up, why you went that way.
