What you'll learn:
Use your body to change your brain.
Kim Bolourtchi is an international keynote speaker, author of Truly Inspired: Secrets for Finding Extraordinary Success at Work and Strategic Unruliness, and host of the Get Unruly podcast. She’s also a lawyer, CEO, professor, and national Latin dance champion who’s mastered the art of the portfolio career(!!).
She knows exactly what it’s like when you’re in a meeting, the nerves kick in, and the lizard brain starts spiralling: ‘Is this a good idea? Will I look silly sharing it?’ Our bodies might start working against us, making us appear less confident. But Kim believes we can change our posture to change how we feel:
🏋️♀️ Power posture (not power posing): Power posing (think Wonder Woman) works temporarily, but power posture lasts. It’s a subtle way to hold your body that tells your brain, ‘We’ve got this.‘
🏋️♀️ Here’s how: Sitting or standing, start with feet flat on the floor, pressing down (stops shaky legs!). Zip up from your feet through your centre, shoulders down and back, chin slightly lifted. Keep your eyes alert (or attentive, as Kim says) and present. Keep your hands in your lap or by your side, with no barriers across your body. If standing, keep the same posture but with soft knees (don’t lock them).

"Thank you for a great session Kim - it was perfect timing! My event went so well. Standing in front of 200+ people, no podium, just me and the room - but it’s the best I’ve ever felt speaking!"
