What you'll learn:

We asked how many meetings you had in your calendar this week. Answers ranged from nine to twenty-five; one of you had twenty-three across three days, and someone else said ‘booked in ones – six, unbooked – unlimited’. Sounds about right…

We have more meetings now than we did 25 years ago. The same tools built to make collaborating easier removed every last bit of friction from booking one.

So, spend half an hour re-designing your calendar:

💡 There’s a difference between optimal speed and maximum speed: As Powrsuit expert, Laurent Sylvestre says: Back-to-back all day is maximum speed, which means tunnel vision, no room to think, and someone else making the choices about your time.

💡 The same meeting is a different meeting depending on why you’re in it: Collaborator, relationship builder, passenger. The passenger role is worth tackling first.

💡 Sitting in a meeting and saying nothing is presence, not visibility: Are you adding something, or just showing up?

There’s plenty more: How to decline graciously, flip from passenger to collaborator, and a shout out to Jen’s mini-masterclass on timeblocking.

"I listened to this live while driving home from work. My current meeting cadence is 'as needed' and I will not be adding more meetings, for meetings sake, to the busy calendars of my team. I will send my manager to Kristen and Nat if she has any questions 😂😉"
